Jodie Sweetin, the actress who played middle child Stephanie on “Full House,” has written a memoir. The book, “UnSweetined,” hits shelves Nov. 3, and it details her childhood on TV and her drug addiction.
Amazon.com has a pretty extensive excerpt from the book. In it, she describes staying up all night doing drugs before getting on a plane to go give a speech. The speech was part of the “Just Say No” campaign, and she talked about how great it felt to be free of her drug addiction. Then she went back to her hotel room and did coke.
Everyone loves the drama
With all of the money Jodie Sweetin made from “Full House” and the “Just Say No” tour, she never needed auto financing or personal loans for anything. She talks in her book about how she once withdrew $10,000 in cash for a trip, and $8,000 of it was either lost or stolen; she doesn’t know and didn’t care.
It sounds like “UnSweetined” has everything: money, drugs, drama, hypocrisy. Jodie Sweetin also went through a divorce in the past year. I’m sure it will sell very well, as there are a lot of people out there who are fascinated by anything related to “Full House.” Jodie Sweetin’s book “UnSweetined” will retail for $17.15 for hardcover or $14.29 for the Kindle edition.
Call me cynical
Jodie Sweetin’s memoir is supposed to highlight the fact that she has really kicked her drug habit this time. However, I feel a tad suspicious. If she could give speeches about being a recovered drug addict while she was doing meth and coke, why couldn’t she write a book about being a recovered addict?
She fully admits she only did the “Just Say No” speeches for the money, and everyone knows she hasn’t had a lot of acting gigs lately. Is Jodie Sweetin’s book just another way for her to make money, or is it genuine? I hope it’s the latter, but it’s tough to say, especially because a lot of the drug experiences Jodie Sweetin talks about weren’t that long ago.
